A report commissioned by the Boards & Voluntary Agencies branch of IMPACT trade union, which represents workers in the community and voluntary sector, has warned that the sector is facing crisis as state funding is cut.
1. The 2008 Report recorded expenditure of €580,790 – the highest ever level of donations from the IMPACT fund. There was a carryover of over €25,000 from the 2008 accounts and the budget for 2009 amounted to almost €490,000. By the end of the year it was estimated that this would be exceeded by over €40,000.

The ICTU Public Services Committee accused the Government of turning its back on a deal that would have delivered a massive transformation in the delivery of public services, met the Government’s required reductions in 2010 payroll costs, and avoided a second public service pay cut in less than a year.
